Résumé

France has an ambivalent relationship with the European Union (EU). While some of the most ardent supporters of the Community method (such as Jean Monnet and Jacques Delors) were French, French politicians, in particular former President Charles de Gaulle, have been among those who have opposed this model strongly (Dehousse, 2012, p. 155).
