By granting the constitutional judge the possibility to challenge the validity of a law once it has been implemented and upon the demand of the litigants, the 2008 revision of the Constitution put an end to the tradition of “légicentrisme” still deeply rooted in the French system. Yet, the French version of the constitutional state may seem anachronistic since current constitutionalism is at once international, supranational and transnational. In such a context, the introduction of the priority preliminary ruling on the issue of constitutionality will not lead to the conceptual aggiornamento that French constitutionalism requires.

            <abstract xml:lang="fr">
