Une lecture de la radicalisation djihadiste en Somalie

A reading of jihadi radicalization in Somalia
The Young Combatants’ Movement has been active in Somalia for the last 15 years and, despite major blows, it remains capable of hitting the Somali authorities and the African Union Force supposed to protect them. This resilience forces us to question at different levels the permanence of radicalization structures by drawing an analysis of the political arena throughout the civil war, organizational opportunities after 9/11, and processes of belonging. This need to mobilize history and the theory of social movements underlines the importance of transformations in the civil war, before the creation of the jihadist movement, the radicalization of Western and regional policies after 11 September, and the complexity of the relations between political Salafism and jihadism over the last decade.
