The Impact of trade shocks on collective wage bargaining agreements
Abstract
We study the impact of international trade on firm-level wage bargaining using a unique
administrative firm-level dataset for French manufacturing. Exports have a positive effect on the
probability of signing firm-level wage agreements, while offshoring has no significant effect.
Results are consistent with the predictions of rent-sharing models of the export wage-premium.
