L’Allemagne et son passé déplacé

Catherine Perron is interested in the peculiarity of Germany, which has been home to different types of refugee since the end of the Second World War: those who fled to liberate areas occupied by Nazi Germany, those displaced as a result of agreements between the Allies, and, since the collapse of the Communist regimes, those fleeing the “new” wars (Chechens, Syrians or Ukrainians). In this context, she focuses on the “Documentation Centre for Displacement, Expulsion and Reconciliation”, which has opened in Berlin in recent years. She wonders how its permanent exhibition recalls the history of “flight and expulsion”. In what framework(s) is history (re)placed and interpreted?
