Carpentras and the Media
Abstract
The Minister of the Interior is expected to arrive in Carpentras today. He will go to the Jewish cemetery which was desecrated, according to a communiqué from the town hall, by unknown culprits. Police findings
reveal that thirty-three graves not two as it was earlier announced
have been damaged by unidentified persons who opened a coffin and exhumed
the body of an eighty-one-year-old man who died two weeks ago.
The corpse, impaled on an umbrella pôle, was discovered lying on a
nearby grave. No one claimed responsibility for the act. Investigators
took the footprints of four people who seem to have been in the vicinity
on Wednesday and Thursday nights.
