Description: The Future of Communal Property: Lessons from the Kibbutz, Velib and Linux . Private property and open-access property, such as streets, are familiar. But a valuable resource instead may be owned as a limited-access commons that only dozens or hundreds of designated individuals can use. Even more intriguing is the semi-commons, which entails communal rights under some conditions but not others. The members of this panel will assess the promise of these unconventional, but potentially promising, forms of property.
